The Bauhaus’ Journey around the Region of Murcia

The Bauhaus’ Journey around the Region of Murcia is an event that will bring to the citizens of the territory the philosophy of the New Bauhaus. This initiative will focus its activities on a participatory approach for the citizenship of several municipalities of the Region of Murcia which are currently carrying out different processes of architectural and urban design.

The main objectives of the proposal are:

  1. To bring the New Bauhaus closer to the citizenship.
  2. To involve all the citizenship through an innovative participatory process. To this end, a participation plan has been designed for each municipality. This plan seeks to connect with citizens, empowering and activating them through inspiration, creativity and imagination, letting them dream and proposing highly motivating activities.
  3. To publicize the ongoing urban strategy and design projects from the municipalities of the Region of Murcia. They are being developed with architecture as a dynamic element in order to overcome the challenges our cities are facing so a sustainable development is achieved. Many municipalities in this territory are currently designing strategic plans and other projects that are aligned with the values of the Bauhaus. All these challenges are being faced with a sustainable, equal and innovative approach.
  4. To connect the different involved municipalities that carry out similar strategies, to find synergies, establish meeting points and common learning activities, to interchange good practices and to obtain valuable feedback.

The activities designed for this event will be carried out in the municipalities of Cieza, Jumilla, Lorca and Lorquí, and are described below:

Cieza — Jane Jacobs Walk: Jane Jacobs Walks are a series of urban tours that allow participants to establish contact with the environment and with other people, generating complicity and creating a space for cities to discover theirselves. It is a global event inspired by the vision of activist Jane Jacobs, advocate of a more humanized urbanism, to celebrate the pleasure of walking through the city through walks guided by volunteers.

Jumilla — Design Fair: A project exhibition event along with a participatory activity such as a design workshop.

Lorca — Forum: In the format of a cultural event, we propose a day of reflection to share knowledge and all the progress made around the process of regeneration of Lorca’s historic centre, which is located in a degraded environment and currently in an activation process. Experts in the field will be invited, and the results obtained will be discussed with an exhibition of the work to the whole citizenship.

Lorquí — Family gymkhana familiar: It aims to carry out an activity in the urban area, through something playful as a game can be. In this way, activities, tests, or games are proposed around an urban space, whose contents are designed for the enjoyment of the participants, and the collection of information on their opinion, or proposals for improvement of specific issues.
