EuroVértice is participating yesterday and today in the celebration of European Maritime Day in Poole (United Kingdom) where all the key players have gathered around the issues of blue growth.
The event was opened by Karmenu Vella, the European Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Union, who recalled that we are on the tenth anniversary of the celebration of this day to work on EU marine policy.
This year, the theme chosen has been “The Future of Our Seas” and much will be linked to the CSR of companies to support sustainability, strengthening business cooperation with the environmental world.
In addition, the Commissioner announced that a Plastic and Circular Economy Strategy for the fight against marine litter and micro-plastics will be launched later this year.
Within the framework of the days, we are attending specialized workshops on various topics such as maritime safety, financing blue growth, green energy and technological innovation, etc.
EuroVértice has actively worked on projects with a marine component, for example, on the management of ECOSAFIMED, which worked towards sustainable fishing in the Mediterranean Basin, and the ENPI CBC MED Instrument, and on the co-writing of the integrated project LIFE INTEMARES, which aims at an integrated management of the Natura 2000 network in the Spanish marine environment.
